

Description
The Goldfinch is a small passerine bird known for its colorful plumage. It has a bright red facial mask, black and yellow wings, and a brown back. The goldfinch feeds on seeds; in particular, it is fond of thistle seeds—from which its Italian name derives—as well as sunflower seeds. It prefers open habitats such as fields, gardens, and forest edges. It nests between April and June, building nests in trees and shrubs.
