The Coal Tit is a small passerine bird about 11–12 cm long. Its plumage features a black cap, white cheeks, and a bluish-gray back, while its underparts are off-white. Its diet consists mainly of insects, seeds, and small fruits. It is a very lively and active bird, often seen moving nimbly among the branches in search of food. It nests primarily between April and July, building its nest in tree cavities. The Coal Tit prefers coniferous forests, but it is also common in gardens and city parks, especially where there are ornamental conifers.
