The Black-capped Bunting is a long-distance migrant, wintering in West Africa and returning to Europe to breed. It prefers wooded habitats, often near clearings or forest edges. Breeding occurs in the spring, with nests built in natural or artificial cavities. Its willingness to adapt to using nest boxes has contributed to the conservation of the species in some countries.
