The Pareti project, promoted by Ficedula in collaboration with the Office of Nature and Landscape of the Canton of Ticino, was launched with the goal of protecting and enhancing the natural and artificial rock faces used by nesting birds. These habitats are home to species of great conservation interest, such as raptors, swifts, and other rock-dwelling birds that are particularly sensitive to disturbance.

The project involves conducting a survey of nesting sites, long-term monitoring of breeding pairs, and assessing threats related to recreational and infrastructure activities. A key aspect is raising awareness among climbers, photographers, and the general public to ensure that the most sensitive rock faces are respected during the breeding season. Through targeted conservation measures and close institutional collaboration, the project makes a tangible contribution to the conservation of the canton’s rock-dwelling birdlife.

Species that nest on cliffs include, for example, the golden eagle, the peregrine falcon, the eagle owl, the Eurasian tree sparrow, and the wallcreeper.
