Description

The Mute Swan is a large bird, easily recognizable by its long, curved neck and entirely white plumage. It feeds mainly on aquatic plants. It nests in quiet areas near water during the spring, building large nests out of vegetation and small twigs.

The Situation in Italian-Speaking Switzerland

In Ticino, the Mute Swan is a breeding species and can be seen in all of the canton’s lowland bodies of water.
