The Chiffchaff is a small passerine with plumage that is predominantly olive-brown on the upperparts and whitish on the underparts. Its beak is slender and its legs are dark. It is known for its distinctive song, a repetitive “chiff-chaff.” It feeds mainly on insects, but can adapt to eating fruits and seeds during the colder months. It is a short-distance migrant. It is found primarily in open woodlands. It nests between April and July, building dome-shaped nests near the ground.
