The Honey Buzzard is a medium-sized bird of prey. It has mottled brown plumage, with darker streaks on the chest and a long tail barred with light and dark bands. Its eyes are yellow, and its beak is short and sturdy. This species feeds primarily on wasp larvae and other hymenoptera. In winter, it migrates to tropical Africa. The breeding season takes place between May and July, during which nests are built in trees where the female usually lays two eggs.
