The Crested Tit is a small passerine, about 11–12 cm long. It is easily recognizable by its characteristic crest on its head, which gives it a distinctive appearance. Its plumage is predominantly gray and brown, with a white face and a black mask extending to the crest. This species feeds mainly on insects and seeds, especially in winter. It prefers wooded habitats, particularly coniferous forests; it can also adapt to parks and gardens, especially if they contain ornamental conifers. During the breeding season, between April and June, it builds its nest in natural or artificial cavities.
