Description
The Yellow Bunting is a small passerine bird known for its bright plumage. Adult males have a bright yellow head, while their bodies are a combination of brown and yellow, ideal for blending into fields. Females and juveniles have more subdued colors. It feeds mainly on seeds and insects during the breeding season. It is known for its melodious song, which resembles a sequence of descending notes; each population has its own dialect. It inhabits mainly open fields, pastures, and forest edges. It nests between April and August, building nests hidden among the grass.
