Description
The Song Thrush is a medium-sized bird, characterized by brown plumage on its back and dark spots on its light-colored breast. It is known for its melodious and complex song, which is often repeated in sequences. It feeds mainly on invertebrates and fruit. It is a partial migrant, moving south in the winter. Its preferred habitat includes forests, gardens, and parks with abundant vegetation. It nests between March and July, building cup-shaped nests in trees or bushes. An interesting fact is its technique of breaking snail shells by striking them against stones.
The Situation in Italian-Speaking Switzerland
