It lives mainly in high mountains, where it feeds on insects, fruits, and seeds. It is a social bird, often seen in large flocks, and is particularly noisy with its boisterous calls. Its preferred habitat includes rocky areas and alpine meadows. Breeding occurs in the spring and summer, with nests built in crevices or rock cavities.
