The Pallid Harrier is a medium-sized bird of prey, characterized by light gray plumage in males and brown plumage in females; the females can be confused with those of the Montagu’s Harrier. This diurnal bird of prey is known for its elegant, low flight over open fields as it hunts small mammals and birds. A long-distance migrant, it nests in the steppes and grasslands of Central Asia, moving to Africa and India during the winter. The breeding season occurs between April and June, with nests built on the ground among tall grass. An interesting fact is that males are polygamous and can therefore mate with multiple females during a single breeding season.
