The white stork is a large bird, characterized by predominantly white plumage with black feathers on its wings. It has a long red beak and long, slender legs of the same color. Adults can reach a height of about 100–115 cm and a wingspan of 155–215 cm. White storks feed on insects, fish, amphibians, and small mammals. The species winters in Africa. During the nesting season, they build large nests in trees, on buildings, or on man-made structures. The breeding season runs from March to July, and the same nests are often reused year after year.
